Student visa (Subclass 500)

Visit Australia to participate in a course of study.
  • You must be enrolled in full-time course at a recognized educational institution
  • be enrolled in a course of study in Australia
  • hold Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), or fall in one of the exemption categories, for your stay in Australia
  • must be 6 years or older
  • prove you have a welfare arrangement, if you are under 18

Student Guardian visa (Subclass 590)

Visit to support a child who holds a student visa.
  • Allows a person to provide care and support for a student visa holder who is under 18
  • In special situations, this visa allows a person to provide care and support for a student visa holder who is 18 or olderbe the student’s parent, custodian or relative who is 21 years or older
  • have enough money to support yourself and the student during your stay
  • be able to provide accommodation, welfare and other support

Training visa(Subclass 407)

This visa allows you to take part in workplace-based occupational training activities to improve your skills for your job, area of tertiary study, field of expertise or in a professional development training program in Australia.
  • You can do workplace-based training to improve your skills for your job, area of tertiary study, field of expertise
  • You can participate in a classroom-based professional development training programbe sponsored
  • be nominated (unless your sponsor is a Commonwealth Government agency)
  • be invited (if your sponsor is a Commonwealth Government agency)
  • It is not for people who primarily want to work

Skilled Independent Visa subclass 189

The Skilled Independent visa is a permanent residence visa. It is a points based system which is designed for skilled workers who want to work and live anywhere in Australia in an occupation on the MLTSSL. The points are calculated on Age/Education/English and Work Experience. One must score 65 points and above to be eligible to apply for this visa. This visa allows you to:

  • stay in Australia permanently
  • work and study in Australia
  • enrol in Australia’s public health care scheme, Medicare
  • sponsor your relatives to come to Australia
  • travel to and from Australia for 5 years
  • if eligible, become an Australian citizen

State Nominated Visa subclass 190

A 190 visa is an alternative for applicants who are unable to pass the ‘Points Test’ and receive the 189 visa above. In essence, it is the same as the Skilled Independent Visa in the sense that you undergo the SkillsSelect application process and are granted permanent residency rights once received. However, unlike the 189 visa, you must be nominated by an Australian State or Territory Government agency and have an occupation on the STSOL.

Regional Sponsored Visa subclass 489

Being a temporary visa, the Regional Sponsored Visa subclass 489 provides applicants with three pathways for skilled workers who want to work and live in regional Australia for up to four years through a state or relative nomination. By holding this provisional visa, you will then be able to have an easier transition into gaining permanent residency through a subsequent 887 visa.

Temporary Graduate Visa subclass 485 visa

Although not a SkillSelect visa, the Temporary Graduate Visa is a two-stream skilled-based migration programme. It is designed for international students who have recently graduated from an Australian educational Institution to live, work and study in Australia temporarily after the completion of their studies.

Partner visa (Temporary) (Subclass 820)

This visa lets the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia temporarily. Getting this visa is the first step towards a permanent Partner visa (subclass 801).

  • You must be in Australia when you apply

Partner visa (Permanent) (Subclass 801)

This visa lets the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia permanently. It is usually only for people who currently hold a temporary Partner visa (subclass 820).

Basic Eligibility

  • Submit expression of interest (EOI) in SkillSelect
  • Nominated by a State or Territory government agency or the CEO of Austrade
  • Invited to apply for the visa

Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188)

This visa allows you to own and manage a business in Australia, conduct business and investment activity in Australia or undertake an entrepreneurial activity in Australia. This provisional visa is for people with business skills. It lets you operate a new or existing business in Australia.

Stay: Up to 4 years and 3 months.

  • You must operate a new or existing business in Australia.
  • You must be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency.

Business Innovation and Investment (provisional) visa (subclass 188) – Investor Stream

This provisional visa requires you to invest at least AUD1.5 million in an Australian State or Territory and maintain business or investment activity in Australia.

Stay: 4 years and 3 months.

  • You must invest AUD1.5 million in an Australian State or Territory.
  • You must be nominated by an Australian  State or Territory government agency.

Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) – SIGNIFICANT INVESTOR STREAM

This provisional visa is for people who invest at least AUD5 million in Australian investments that meet certain requirements and maintain investment activity in Australia.

Stay: Up to 4 years and 3 months.

  • You must invest at least AUD5 million in complying significant investments in Australia.
  • You must be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency or the CEO of Austrade.

Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188)

Business Innovation Extension stream

This provisional visa lets holders of the Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) in the Business Innovation stream extend their stay in Australia for 2 more years.

Stay: 6 years after the date of the grant of the original Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) Innovation stream that you held at the time of application

  • Extend your stay for up to 2 more years. This means you can stay in Australia for a total of 6 years from the date of grant of your Subclass 188 visa in the Business Innovation stream.
  • You can only have held 1 Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188).
  • You must hold a Subclass 188 visa in the Business Innovation stream.
  • You must have held your Subclass 188 visa in the Business Innovation stream for at least 3 years.
  • You must be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency.

Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) – Significant Investor Extension stream

This provisional visa lets holders of a Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) Significant Investor stream holders extend their stay in Australia for up to 4 more years.

Stay: Extend stay for up to 4 years

  • Extend your stay for up to 4 more years. This means you can stay in Australia for a total of 8 years from the date of grant of your Subclass 188 visa in the Significant Investor stream.
  • You must hold a Subclass 188 visa in the Significant Investor stream for at least 3 years, or a Subclass 188 visa in the Significant Investor Extension stream.
  • You cannot have held more than 1 Subclass 188 visa in the Significant Investor Extension stream.
  • You must be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency or the CEO of Austrade.

Business Innovation and Investment (provisional) visa (subclass 188) – Premium Investor stream

This provisional visa is for people who are nominated by the CEO of Austrade and who invest at least AUD15 million in Australian investments and/or philanthropic contributions.

Stay: 4 years and 3 months

  • You must invest AUD15 million in Australian investments and/or philanthropic contributions that meet certain requirements.
  • You must be nominated by the CEO of Austrade.

Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188)

ENTREPRENEUR STREAM

This provisional visa lets you carry out entrepreneurial activities in Australia.

Stay: 4 years and 3 months

  • You must have a funding agreement with a third party to carry out entrepreneurial activities.
  • You must first be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency.

Basic Criteria for these stream is :

  • You must have the necessary skills for the job
  • You must be nominated by an Australian employer
  • You must meet our health and character requirements

Employment Nomination Scheme (ENS) (Subclass 186)

The ENS allows Australian employers to nominate international workers for permanent skilled positions in their business, that cannot be filled as a result of Australian labour shortages
  • you must be nominated by an Australian employer
  • your occupation must be on the relevant list of eligible skilled occupations.
  • you must have at least Competent English

Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (Subclass 187)

The Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme allows Australian employers who are based in Regional and smaller cities of Australia to nominate international workers for permanent skilled positions in their business.
  • you must be nominated by an Australian employer
  • you will work for your nominating employer in regional Australia
  • your occupation must be on the relevant list of eligible skilled occupations
  • you must have at least Competent English

Temporary Work/Long Term (Subclass 482)

This visa enables employers to address labour shortages by bringing in skilled workers where employers can’t source an appropriately skilled Australian worker. Stay. The Time frame for these visas is 2-4 years and The occupation should be on the short-term skilled occupations list
  • Your occupation can also be on either the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)or the Regional Occupation List (ROL)

This permanent visa lets a parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen move to Australia.

  • be outside Australia when we decide on your application
  • have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
  • meet all applicable visa conditions and follow Australian law

Aged Parent Visa (subclass 804)

This Permanent Visa Lets an aged parent of a settled Austalian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Eligible New zealand Citizen to stay in Australia.

  • be in Australia, but not in immigration clearance, when you apply for the visa and when we decide on your application
  • have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
  • be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia

Contributory Parent (Temporary) Visa (subclass 173)

This Permanent Visa Lets an aged parent of a settled Austalian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Eligible New zealand Citizen to stay in Australia.

  • be sponsored by an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Australian Permanent resident or Eligible New Zealand citizen
  • meet the balance-of-family test
  • meet all visa conditions and follow Australian law

Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 884)

This temporary visa lets the aged parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen stay temporarily in Australia.

  • have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen
  • be old enough to receive the Australian aged pension
  • be in Australia, but not in immigration clearance, when you apply for this visa and when we make our decision

CONTRIBUTORY AGED PARENT (PERMANENT) VISA SUBCLASS 864

The permanent Contributory Aged Parent Visa is a replica of the permanent Contributory Parent Visa, however, is designed for applicants who are eligible for the Australian aged pension.

  • be in Australia, but not in immigration clearance, when you apply for the visa and when we decide on your application
  • have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
  • be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia

REMAINING RELATIVE VISA SUBCLASS 115 AND 835

This permanent visa lets people move to Australia to be with their only close family members.
be outside Australia when you apply for this visa and when we decide your application

  • be a remaining relative of an Australian citizen or Permanent resident or an Eligible New Zealand citizen
  • have an eligible sponsor

AGED DEPENDENT RELATIVE VISA SUBCLASS 114 AND 838

  • be inside Australia, but not in immigration clearance, when you apply for this visa and when we decide on your application
  • be sponsored by your relative or your relative’s partner

This Permanent visa lets a single older person stay in Australia if they rely on a relative living in Australia for financial support.

This visa lets a child outside Australia move to Australia to live with their parents.

  • be a dependent child of a parent who is an Australian citizen, eligible New Zealand citizen or holder of an Australian permanent visa
  • be under 18 years, a full-time student aged over 18 and under 25 and financially dependent on the parent, or over 18 and unable to work due to a disability
  • be single and dependent on the parent
  • be outside Australia when the application is made and when we make a decision on the application

(subclass 600)

  • This visa stream lets you visit Australia as a tourist, to go on a cruise or to see family and friends.
  • Intend to come to Australia to visit only
  • have enough money for your stay in Australia
  • not work in Australia
  • You can study or train for up to 3 months in total on this visa. But if your main reason for travelling to Australia is study, a student visa might be more appropriate.
