A registered migration agent is registered with the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA), is qualified in migration law and procedure, and must comply with the Migration Agents Code of Conduct. A migration lawyer is an Australian legal practitioner who holds a practising certificate and can provide immigration assistance as part of legal practice. Both can assist with migration matters, but a lawyer can also provide broader legal advice and legal representation where required.
It depends on the visa you hold now. Since 1 July 2024, visitor visa and Temporary Graduate visa holders cannot apply for a student visa while in Australia, and some visas carry a no further stay condition. We check your current visa before you apply.
